With the UW students back in town for their first weekend….Madison police say they had to deal with plenty of alcohol-related problems….and the director of a university project says those problems were “totally preventable.” Susan Crowley of PACE tells WIBA News her group even took extra steps to make sure students and their parents knew about the dangers of irresponsible drinking.Ã? Crowley says the first six weeks at school are the most dangerous times for students…because for many…it is their first time away from home and being on their own.Ã? She adds that this points out that some students aren’t making that transition in a very healthy way.Ã? She says it’s alarming to see how students are hurting themselves and others by drinking too much.
