Former coach Gary Andersen fled Madison after only two seasons, causing some UW fans to scan the national scores every Sunday morning and revel in his latest loss at Oregon State. Fans have had their share of fun, too, because Andersen has seven losses in nine games with the Beavers. But there is no reason for UW fans to act like jilted lovers. Instead of laughing derisively as Andersen’s losses pile up, they should be thanking him profusely for realizing what has become apparent in the 11 months since he left: His hiring at UW was a colossal mistake.
