UW notes: New-age recruiting tool

For decades, the University of Wisconsin Athletic Department has compiled and distributed media guides for its various sports.
They began humbly – booklets of single-spaced typed paper, stapled together without pictures, filled with basic data about coaches, players and program history – and evolved into slick, voluminous, colorful publications that were as promotional as informational.

The evolution will continue in 2006-07 when a new format is unveiled for Badgers-oriented publications. Justin Doherty, the assistant athletic director for communications, said the look and content will cater more toward recruits than the media.
