Matthew Wage, 17, a junior at Appleton East High School, won the $24,000 Van Vleck Scholarship given Saturday by the University of Wisconsin Mathematics, Engineering, and Science Talent Search. He is one of two recipients selected this year.
The Van Vleck scholarship consists of $6,000 per year for four years, awarded for undergraduate study at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. It is the top prize in the Mathematics, Science and Engineering Talent Search, conducted by the university’ math department.
