UW-Madison officials are mulling over the idea of bringing back Kevin Barrett as an instructor this fall.
Barrett’s teaching of an introductory course in Islam last year, involved a restriction on how often he could discuss the 9/11 attack in class. Barrett is in the forefront of a national movement, which claims 9/11’s World Trade Center destruction was caused by bombs and the Bush administration.
UW-Madison spokesman Brian Mattmiller told 27 News Barrett is up for a lecturer’s position in the English department. Mattmiller said there are other candidates for the job and had no timetable for the hiring decision. In an edition of the Badger Herald earlier this month, UW Assistant Director of State Relations Don Nelson told the newspaper UW “currently has no intention to hire Kevin Barrett.”
