The e-mail popped into Wquinton Smith’s University of Wisconsin account one day in late October, and was almost sent — unread — into the virtual wastebasket.
“I was real close (to deleting it) and then I decided to read it because it said men’s basketball,” Smith said. “At first I thought it was just a flyer or something, and I kept reading it and I thought this was my chance to finally try to prove myself.”
