Prominent UW-Madison professor agrees to resign after investigation

prominent UW-Madison professor and expert in artificial intelligence has resigned after an investigation found he violated a university policy on consensual relationships.

Life Sciences Communication professor Dietram Scheufele also failed in his faculty responsibilities, including maintaining honesty and integrity, university spokesperson Gillian Drummond said. His departure, part of a settlement agreement, follows an investigation completed in September 2025 into complaints filed by three female students, including accusations of sexual harassment and hostile and intimidating behavior. His last day was Aug. 15.
