Student impact on Madison community

Summer does not turn downtown Madison into a ghost town, but it does reshape the city.

With fewer UW-Madison students on campus and no Badgers football games, the area is more relaxed. It is also easier to find a seat at a restaurant or bar.

Sam Haegele, a bartender and manager at Vintage Spirits & Grill on University Avenue, said the business sees a significant demographic shift.
