A beautiful evening wrapped up a bittersweet farewell on Cornellâ??s Bailey Plaza on Tuesday as Cornell students, faculty, and administration gathered under a stark white tent where ginger ale and dippinâ?? dots were served, to say goodbye one last time to their colleague Carolyn â??Biddyâ? Martin, former provost of the University. Martin has been affiliated with Cornell for 24 years and was University Provost from 2000-2008. Now she will fill the role of Chancellor at the University of Wisconsin.
In his address to the crowd, President David Skorton ran down an impressive list of Martinâ??s accomplishments, including her role in leading diversity efforts, revamping financial aid to increase socionomic diversity, and efforts to promote sustainability at Cornell.
