Noted: For commercial growers, energy costs represent the third-largest expense after labor and stock, but figuring out how much energy greenhouses use is not so easy. Climate, size, construction materials and heating systems all determine the amount of energy expenditure. The University of Wisconsinâ??Madison has an online tool U.S. growers can use to figure out which energy-saving technologies would be most economical; it gives baseline energy costs, as well.
