On Campus: University of Wisconsin-Madison researchers find that the state’s forests have the potential to hold more carbon

At first glance, there may not seem a connection between trees and forests and slowing down climate change.

But part of the answer to solving this modern-day environmental dilemma may actually reside in the very resource that sustained Native Americans as well as this nation’s early European settlers — the thick forests that once covered so much of the landscape.
