After the Badgers played their last game of the season, an 11-3 Big Ten Conference loss to Michigan State at Goodman Diamond, Chandelle Schulte had an extended postgame meeting with her players in which she announced all the award winners for the season. Before leaving the locker room, she said the annual banquet, scheduled for a few hours later at the Concourse Hotel, had been called off. No explanation was given to the players or their parents,leading to speculation, later verified, that Schulte was on her way out after five seasons as UW coach. Someone from the UW Athletic Department should step up and apologize to the players and their families. It isnâ??t too much to ask.
