The two views capture the passion still brewing over the city?s alcohol density plan Downtown. Passed by the City Council in 2007, the plan aimed to limit the number of new taverns in the student-heavy district and reverse a troubling uptick in alcohol-related violent crime. With strong support from both the police and UW-Madison, the plan has momentum to be renewed in the spring.
