Dane County?s detox center may scale back services next year as it faces annual deficits, reduced public funding and county pressure to re-evaluate its role in combatting alcohol abuse. County Executive Kathleen Falk has asked the Human Services Department to study the effectiveness of detox and consider alternative models for 2012 with a report due back to the County Board by June 1. Falk declined to suggest any specific alternatives other than possibly asking UW-Madison to pay for the many students brought to detox.
