Young farmers have an un- flagging advocate in Dick Cates, a board member for the state Agriculture Department and a director of UW- Madison’s School for Beginning Dairy Farmers. Over the last 10 years, the school has trained Laskowski and some 200 other future farmers, including some who never grew up on a farm, Cates said.
