Apparently, the place to beat that trend is in the University of Wisconsin-Madison?s athletic stable. Departing head football coach Bret Bielema was making $2.7 million this year. Former coach and current Athletic Director Barry Alvarez was being paid a paltry-by-comparison $1 million. Now, UW regents have decided Alvarez will pocket a one-month salary increase of $118,500 for December as he takes over from Bielema to coach one game ? yes, one game ? at the Rose Bowl.
