In mid-March Madison learned that a much-maligned spire will disappear from Camp Randall. But lost in the excitement is news that it’s part of a plan to renovate the nearby Field House and create a large, new, outdoor gathering place.
A new art installation on State Street on Tuesday, and it’s has been nearly three years in the making.
After part of it was covered with blue tarps for months, a new sculpture was completed on Library Mall.
Projects to clean up the exterior of the University of Wisconsin Field House and construct a new plaza outside its south doors have been given a thumbs-up.
Quoted: “All farmers know the good times end and the bad times come,” said Paul Mitchell, director of the Renk Agribusiness Institute at UW-Madison.
Noted: A big assist came from Janet Gilmore, UW-Madison professor of landscape architecture and folklore studies. Gilmore will facilitate audience discussions after performances on May 24, 30 and June 1.
When an institution the size of UW Health stops buying from a small producer, it affects not only that smaller company’s bottom line. It also impacts these producers’ visibility to a local audience with a vested interest in healthy food. Many of those partnerships came about under the leadership of Ellen Ritter, UW Health’s executive chef, who left the company at the end of 2018 and has not been replaced.
