The UW System Board of Regents is eyeing a tuition increase in the next budget biennium, University of Wisconsin System President Ray Cross told a legislative committee Wednesday.
The agreed upon description for the new leader of the UW System does specify a minimum of 10 years experience in a “significant senior executive position,” along with knowledge of public higher education.
Frank will assume her duties as chancellor on March 1, taking the position after Bob Meyer — who previously served as chancellor for five years — retired in August 2019. Since his departure, Patrick Guilfoile has acted as interim chancellor.
Hosted by UW-Student Affairs, the Division of Diversity, Equity and Educational Achievement and the Morgridge Center for Public Service, Jemison’s lecture filled Union South’s Varsity Hall to the brim.
With less than a month to go before the Feb. 18 Wisconsin Supreme Court primary and three months before the April 7 presidential primary, students at the University of Wisconsin-Madison are preparing to cast their ballots, a process that has become more confusing in recent years.
“When I was a little kid, this all started with looking up. I remember looking up at the sky and wondering what children on the other side of the world saw,” Jemison said. “It was something that connected me. And “look up” is one of those words that always brings us hope. I think very much that connects us with Dr. King.”

A third proposal would expand the state’s Farm-to-School program will help to connect farmers and the food they produce with universities, technical colleges, hospitals and local businesses across Wisconsin.
