Morgan Brooks, a UW-Madison senior, came to the exhibit to bring back ideas to the diversity and inclusion committee of her sorority, Gamma Phi Beta. Brooks explained she was shocked by the volume of history and background covered, especially on the first-hand accounts and oral histories of discrimination within Greek life.
Early absentee voting for the 2022 midterm elections is in full swing at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and voting stations have been buzzing with students and poll workers.

Winter graduates at UW-Madison will get some final words from the host of the Manitowoc Minute. Charlie Berens will be the winter commencement speaker this year.
Berens is a New York Times best-selling author, an Emmy-winning journalist, a popular podcast host and the creator of “Manitowoc Minute.” He earned a bachelor’s degree in 2009 from UW-Madison in journalism and geography.
In a video posted by UW-Madison’s Twitter account, Berens thanked students for selecting him as the commencement speaker, coming to them “live from his garage.” Senior class officers choose the speakers each year in conjunction with the chancellor’s office.
“As someone new to Wisconsin, I’ve learned a lot from Charlie, like the importance of getting the buttered rye bread with the Friday night fish fry and of watching out for deer on the roads,” Chancellor Jennifer Mnookin said. “He’s a great comedian, but much more — an entrepreneur, a business owner, a skilled interviewer, a proud Badger. I’m delighted he will be offering his wisdom to our graduates.”
“Charlie Berens is a Wisconsin cultural ambassador for all corners of the state,” senior class president Liam McLean said in a news release. “It is fitting to have him speak to our winter commencement graduates as his reach and our university grow in scope and status.”

The UW-Madison Police Department released several photos of the two suspects. Police explained that while the suspects were “well-covered and masked,” officers hope that the community may have more information on the pair and the incident itself.
Campus police say the two were captured on surveillance video spray painting multiple walls, signs, boats, displays, memorials, and pieces of art in the Memorial Union and Alumni Park area. An estimated $30,000 in damage was done, according to police.
Record enrollment, both for the freshman class and overall, at UW-Madison for the past two years has exacerbated Madison’s well-documented housing shortage.
Becky Schachter, a nurse with University of Wisconsin Health, has been in the field for 25 years. She said that experienced nurses just keep leaving and that she’s never seen this many vacancies.
“I’ve got to say football here is not like football at my prior institution,” Mnookin said in her first appearance before the UW Athletic Board on Wednesday. “They are joining the Big Ten — we think — but at UCLA the stadium was on the other side of town. Fans disappointed in the Badgers home football schedule in 2022 got a bit of good news regarding the 2023 slate at Camp Randall Stadium.
Next year’s lineup features the same matchups against UW’s Big Ten west rivals, only they trade home fields. Of the three opponents from the other half of the conference, only one is a holdover from this year – and it’s Ohio State (on Oct. 28). Otherwise, the Badgers will swap Maryland and Purdue for Indiana (Nov. 4) and Rutgers (Oct. 7).

Spiritual psychosis expert Ari Brouwer discussed Lori Vallow’s possible religious psychosis. According to Religion News Service, Brouwer is a Ph.D. student from the University of Wisconsin. He studies the similarities between spirituality, psychosis, and psychedelics and says Vallow displayed warning signs.
“There’s been a lack of a proactive message from the Barnes campaign top to bottom,” said Barry Burden, a political science professor at UW-Madison, who added that Barnes’ messaging around the economy was more effective in the summer and that he’s had a focus on defending himself since.
