Elite athletes such as those who just wowed us in Athens are mostly specialists.

Swimmers. Gymnasts. Weight lifters. Runners. All very, very good in their one sport of choice.

But Oscar P. Osthoff, it seems, was uncommonly good at a bunch of them.
