A day after Nick Saban agreed to an eight-year, $32 million contract to become Alabama’s football coach, the Senate Finance Committee’s chairman and ranking Republican said Thursday they intend to keep pressuring colleges about how they are using their tax-exempt status. Sen. Charles Grassley, R-Iowa, said in a statement colleges “need to justify” their expenses on coaching salaries and athletics facilities if they are to maintain that tax-exempt status.
