NCAA hopes conviction sends stern message: Criminal charges against Alabama booster may open more investigations

A federal prosecutor and jury in Memphis have given college athletic boosters nationwide something to think about. Or so NCAA and other officials expect. Wednesday’s conviction of Alabama booster Logan Young on charges that he paid $150,000 to have a prized recruit steered to the Crimson Tide could have broad ramifications ââ?¬â? deterring other wayward boosters and emboldening prosecutors ââ?¬â? they say.
