UW-Madison cows move into new Dairy Cattle Center

Cows moved back onto the University of Wisconsin-Madison campus after the completion of the new Dairy Cattle Center, according to a university press release.Students, faculty and university staff use the facility for dairy science classes, veterinarian training and research projects.

Scott Walker?s budget provision to do away with residency requirements for city and school employees makes for some strange bedfellows ? aligning the governor made famous for slashing the power of public worker unions with police officers, firefighters and other city workers who have long sought an end to residency requirements through collective bargaining.

But I take issue with Thursday?s letter by a PETA member stating cats at UW “had their heads cut open and had steel rods screwed to their skulls.” Due to a recurrent brain tumor, I?ve had two craniotomies. So I, too, have had my head cut open and had steel rods screwed to my skull to hold it steady during surgery. That?s how brain surgery is done.

4 finalists named for UW-Madison chancellor

Four out-of-state finalists have emerged in a national search for the next leader of Wisconsin?s flagship university, including acting U.S. Secretary of Commerce Rebecca M. Blank.

University of Wisconsin System President Kevin Reilly announced the finalists for the position of chancellor at UW-Madison on Thursday after a 25-member search and screen committee winnowed the field of candidates.

Four chancellor finalists announced

University of Wisconsin System President Kevin Reilly announced the four finalists for the chancellor position Thursday. 

The four finalists are Dr. Rebecca M. Blank from the U.S. Department of Commerce, Dr. Nicholas P. Jones from Johns Hopkins University, Dr. Michael H. Schill from University of Chicago Law School and Dr. Kim A. Wilcox from Michigan State University, according to a UW Communications statement.

UW-Madison honors 16 faculty members

UW-Madison has honored 16 of its professors as either outstanding mid-career faculty members or promising young faculty members.The university awarded eight professors with the  Kellett Mid-Career Award and eight with the Romnes Faculty Fellowship, according to news releases Thursday.

Amid criticism, UW-Madison Confessions explodes with popularity

By this point, the ?UW Madison Confessions? Facebook page should need no introduction. The page, which allows anyone to post confessions anonymously through an online survey system, has gained 13,698 likes in less than 10 days since its creation on Feb. 11. According to the administrator of the page, who is remaining anonymous, it is a great place for debates and funny stories.
