Another hate-crime incident occurs at UW-Whitewater

Just after dark, the freshman student walked near a cemetery on the north side of the UW-Whitewater campus on Sunday. Passing by on the sidewalk, a man shoved her and called her gay. The incident ? recounted by police Tuesday ? was the second this semester at UW-Whitewater that police say could be considered a hate crime. Both involved anti-gay harassment, an issue that has sparked a national movement at college campuses calling for compassion and awareness. At UW-Madison, students and administrators held a vigil last month to talk about bullying.
