Minority Students Fare Better at Selective Colleges, Sociologists Find

Black and Hispanic students are more likely to finish college if they attend a relatively selective institution — even if that means they are surrounded by better-prepared students — than if they attend a nonselective college, according to results of a study presented here Saturday at the annual meeting of the American Sociological Association.
