Sochi Olympics: As has become tradition, UW’s presence is felt on Team USA’s men’s hockey team

It?s a brotherhood nearly 40 years in the making and Joe Pavelski is thrilled to be a part of its exclusive ranks. Since 1976, every U.S. men?s hockey team to take part in the Olympics has included at least one player from the University of Wisconsin. That streak of 11 consecutive Winter Games will come to life Thursday when Team USA ? which has six former UW players serving in some capacity ? will open the tournament against Slovakia (6:30 a.m., NBC Sports Network) in Sochi, Russia.
