University of Wisconsin reportedly targeting Ravens coach for OC

After announcing that they had parted ways with defensive coordinator Don Martindale, it was reported Tom VanHaaren and Jamison Hensley of ESPN that the University of Wisconsin is targeting current Baltimore tight ends coach Bobby Engram to be their next offensive coordinator.

UW volleyball coach Sheffield earned $100k bonus for winning national championship

Winning a national championship is a dream come true — but for UW coaches, it’s also a big payday. On top of his $362,000 salary, University of Wisconsin-Madison volleyball head coach Kelly Sheffield earned a bonus of about $109,000 for winning the national championship in 2021, plus a bonus of about $18,000 for winning the Big Ten, according to the UW Post Season Bonus Policy.

When Cindy Cheng first saw the TikTok video of a Badgers fan taunting Asian American students at Northwestern University with a slant eyes gesture, she hoped it would turn into a learning opportunity. UW Athletics has since barred the person, who is not a University of Wisconsin-Madison student, from purchasing tickets for athletics events on its platform. But Cheng, a history and Asian American studies professor at UW-Madison, said the racist act should additionally serve as a teaching moment on the gesture’s harm — not necessarily a personal condemnation of the person.

UW women’s basketball cancels 2nd game because of COVID-19

The University of Wisconsin’s women’s basketball team has canceled its second consecutive game because of positive COVID-19 tests within the program. On Monday, the university announced the Dec. 30 matchup against Big Ten rival Purdue at the Kohl Center will not be played and UW gave no indication that it would be re-scheduled.

University of Wisconsin athletic director Chris McIntosh has tested positive for COVID-19 and will not travel to Las Vegas for UW’s bowl game.

McIntosh must quarantine for 10 days.

“I would encourage everyone to follow the advice of medical professionals and get vaccinated, boosted, tested and wear a mask,” McIntosh said. “Those mitigation measures may not keep us from contracting COVID, but there’s a good chance they will keep us from having a severe outcome.”

Several UW football players and staffers affected by latest COVID-19 wave on UW campus

The latest COVID-19 wave that is sweeping across the University of Wisconsin campus has affected the UW football team.

Multiple sources close to the program told the Journal Sentinel Saturday both players and staffers tested positive in recent days and that the Badgers would be short-handed when they face Arizona State Thursday in the Las Vegas Bowl.

The best tribute to this program will be to remake the upper tier of the Field House in Madison safer with more capacity and comfortable seating. Anyone who has climbed around pillars and ducked under eaves in the upper deck can tell you that it’s not for the faint of heart or physically challenged, especially many older fans.

High school football player Jaden Rashada signs endorsement deal with recruiting app

Rashada said he did some of his own research to make sure he was allowed to explore endorsement deals. He also worked with an adviser, Ethan Weinstein, to help secure his first deal. Weinstein is a college junior who represents a handful of college athletes in NIL deals. He has previously worked in the University of Wisconsin recruiting office and interned with agent Drew Rosenhaus.
