State health officials are investigating an outbreak of a common respiratory virus that has appeared on three college campuses across Wisconsin.

Adenovirus, an infection that causes respiratory symptoms ranging from cold and flu-like symptoms to bronchitis and pneumonia, has been confirmed at the University of Wisconsin campuses in Madison, La Crosse and Oshkosh.

The University of Texas at Dallas welcomed a fleet of Starship autonomous delivery robots onto campus this week. According to CBS DFW, the robots will deliver food and groceries to students in a three-mile radius of campus and will charge $1-2 per order. In addition to UT Dallas, Starship’s ‘bots already operate on-campus at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, University of Houston, Purdue, George Mason University, and Northern Arizona University, and were recently pulled from the University of Pittsburgh after an accessibility incident.

Gabe Javier Named Assistant Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs

Gabe Javier, who has led the Multicultural Student Center on the UW campus and previously directed the LGBT Campus Center, has been named Assistant Vice Chancellor of Student Affairs – Identity and Inclusion, according to an email to UW staff from Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs Lori Reesor.

UW employee dies from injuries received on job

Roberto Vergara fell and hit his head on the sidewalk early Saturday morning when leaving a building on the 200 block of Bernard Court. A fellow employee called 911 and Vergara was taken to a local hospital, according to the press release.

Alexander Kain came to UW-Madison from Kenosha in 2018 with dreams of becoming the next up-and-coming hip-hop artist. Walking to class one day, he came across a table promoting LÜM (Live Undiscovered Music) — a streaming and social media app — on East Campus Mall. A year later, he has more than 30,000 followers on the app, connections to Travis Scott’s manager and a performance at Freakfest under his belt.
