Alec Cook had initially been charged with 23 different crimes involving 11 female accusers, all them fellow students at University of Wisconsin-Madison. As part of a plea deal with prosecutors, the 22-year-old in February pleaded guilty to five of those charges — three counts of third-degree sexual assault, one count of strangulation and one count of stalking.

A serial rapist was sentenced to 3 years in prison in Dane County Court. Alec Cook, accused of sexually assaulting 11 women around the UW-Madison campus. He will also be under extended release for five years after serving his jail time.

Lawyers for former UW-Madison student Alec Cook, who is to be sentenced Thursday for sexual assault and other crimes, may demand that Cook’s victims testify about their encounters with Cook in light of a prosecution sentencing memorandum that the Cook camp says embellishes and exaggerates the victims’ experiences to make Cook appear violent and dangerous.

State prosecutors want the maximum sentence for a sexually violent former University of Wisconsin student.  Calling him “a dangerous man,” they’re recommending 19 1/2 years in prison for 22-year-old Alec Cook, who pleaded guilty to third-degree sexual assault, strangulation and stalking.
