UW Hillel offers support to students impacted by ‘violent antisemitic incident.’
The incident occurred after a Nov. 7 vigil commemorating one month since the Hamas’ deadly Oct. 7 terrorist attacks against Israel.
A group of UW-Madison students reported a rock being thrown at them following a vigil to support Israel on Tuesday.
According to the Madison Police Department (MPD), the students say the rock was thrown at them from a State Street building after the vigil. The group also reported being harassed with “profane and hateful language.”

Brandon Thompson, the 26-year-old charged with attacking and sexually assaulting a University of Wisconsin-Madison student last month, has pleaded not guilty to all of his charges.

Three people contacted by police at Saturday’s football game had a blood alcohol concentration of 0.20% or higher. Two people were conveyed to detox. The legal limit to drive in Wisconsin is 0.08%.

Organizer Dana Pellebon said the goal is to help the survivor and her family focus on healing rather than worrying about bills during her recovery. Pellebon said crime victim insurance could eventually cover some costs, but immediately after a sexual assault or rape, it is hard for the survivor to work while they try to recover from a traumatizing event.
