To this day, the “Schilling Test” is utilized occasionally … In 2014, Schilling received the Folkert Belzer Award, a “lifetime achievement” recognition for contributions to the UW School of Medicine and Public Health and to the nation.

Former Wausau Paper Chairman San Orr Jr. dies at 73

San Orr Jr., who led both Wausau Paper Corp. and the University of Wisconsin System through major changes, has died at age 73. As a board member and then president of the UW Regents, he saw through an expansion of programs and campuses and challenging budgets.

Pewaukee attorney John R. Hoaglund Jr. spent his life in motion

Hoaglund Jr. was always in motion ? from swimming at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where he was a four-time All American and at final tryouts for the 1952 and 1956 Olympics ? to training with early versions of military jets as an officer in the U.S. Air Force in the late 1950s, said his wife, Susan.

Suter, Robert Allen “Grandpa Bobby”

He graduated from Madison East and later attended University of Wisconsin where he won a National Championship in 1977. Bob was a member of the 1980 “Miracle on Ice” Hockey Team that won the gold medal. He returned to Madison where he opened Suter?s Gold Medal Sports and started his coaching career.

Nelson, Tiffany Kay

She attended UW-Madison and received bachelor?s degrees in genetics and bacteriology. Tiffany continued her education at UW-Madison, earning a master?s degree in bacteriology. During her graduate studies, Tiffany developed a bacteria growth gel, that she named “Tif agar” that is still used at the UW today. Tiffany continued her work as a research assistant and specialist at the UW until 1994.

Loew, Jack

Always skilled with his hands he became a Steamfitter for the University of Wisconsin in 1948. He was in charge of refrigeration for the University and worked in labs such as zoology and microbiology. Jack was ahead of his time; he was the driver of a University car pool in the 60?s, leaving the house at 7:26 a.m. exactly, Monday through Friday. After 36 years at UW he retired in 1984.

During the Vietnam era, Ann worked at home for the University of Wisconsin Extension, grading English papers for servicemen and women. Subsequently, she joined the staff of the UW Office of the Registrar.

Francis Joseph Nagle

Dr. Nagle taught physiology at the UW-Madison for many years. He also co-founded and directed the Bio-Dynamics Lab on campus and encouraged many cardiac patients to enhance their recovery with exercise. He also mentored graduate students throughout the years. Many of them became an extended part of the Nagle-Moran family through holiday dinners and social gatherings at the family home. Fran?s academic career afforded international teaching opportunities that he and Edna thoroughly enjoyed. Highlights included extended stays in Brazil and India.

Even in her 70?s and early 80?s, Lois still remained an active performer, joining with other local singers to provide entertaining educational programs about musical theater and opera to groups around the state, and leading the very popular music class for adults during the UW?s annual “College Week” program each June.

Although her first degree at Wesleyan University was in ethnomusicology (1977), she soon developed an interest in computer programming, which she was able to pursue in the then recently created Computing Center.
