Klaus retired in 2007 as the Weinstein-Bascom Professor of German and Jewish studies, having been awarded prizes, including an Integrated Liberal Arts Teaching Award, the Hilldale Award for Excellence in Research and Teaching at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
