Frederick H. Burkhardt, a Prominent Educator, Dies at 95

Frederick H. Burkhardt, a prominent educator who headed both the American Council of Learned Societies and Bennington College and also helped put the open-admissions policy into effect at the City University of New York, died on Sept. 23 at his home in Bennington, Vt. He was 95.

Mr. Burkhardt began his career teaching in the philosophy department at the University of Wisconsin in 1937.
