Harvey Herman Borgwardt, age 84, of Madison, passed away on Sunday, Jan. 3, 2010. After World War II he began apprenticeship as an orthotist at the University of Wisconsin Hospital. Harvey invented many appliances; one that gained worldwide attention was a prosthetic leg fabricated for the University of Wisconsin for a cow that was carrying a special embryo. Harvey fabricated the prosthesis from a truck exhaust pipe and a hockey puck.
