Helen Marie Matheson Rupp, age 88, of Madison, passed away peacefully Wednesday, March 3, 2010. She began her career at the Wisconsin State Journal in 1942, while still a senior at UW-Madison and worked as a reporter, feature writer, copy reader and assistant news editor. During her 35 years on the newspaper’s staff she was honored repeatedly for her editing, writing and public speaking ability. She also was a part-time lecturer at University of Wisconsin-Madison School of Journalism.
