William M. Yen, age 72, a Graham Perdue Professor of Physics at the University of Georgia, died Thursday, Jan. 17, 2008. He held a position on the faculty of the University of Wisconsin-Madison from 1965 until 1986. Dr. Yen was well known internationally as a leader in the field of optical properties of solids and was a pioneer in the application of lasers in the study of condensed matter.
