Oscar Winning ‘Spartacus’ Art Director Dies at 97

LOS ANGELES (Zap2it.com) – Prolific art director Alexander Golitzen, who won Oscars for “The Phantom of the Opera,” “Spartacus” and “To Kill a Mockingbird,” died Tuesday, July 26 at the age of 97.

He earned a degree in architecture at the University of Wisconsin, whereupon he moved to Los Angeles.
