Samuel Leonard, pioneer in reproductive science, dies at 101 (AP)

Samuel Leonard, a Cornell University professor whose pioneering work in reproductive endocrinology in the 1930s led to development of the birth control pill, died Nov. 12 at his home, just four days before his 102nd birthday.

He earned his bachelor’s degree from Rutgers University in 1927 and both his master’s (1929) and doctoral (1931) degrees from the University of Wisconsin.
