Celebrating the 75th Anniversary of the Arboretum

The UW Arboretum is celebrating its 75th Anniversary.

Visitors and employees had a party Sunday, complete with historical presentations about when the nature preserve first opened in 1934.

Back in 1934 scientists transformed worn-out farmland just southwest of downtown Madison and UW’s campus into a 72. Today the Arboretum spans 1,200 acres. Employees are focusing on maintaining the land and its treasures.
