Dozens buy doors, windows from state Capitol

MADISON, Wis. (AP) – Joe Kallas got a state senator’s office door for $100. John and Chris Schneider spent $200 on windows and light fixtures. Sonya Newenhouse went home with $750 worth of office decorations.

Kallas, the Schneiders and Newenhouse were among the dozens of treasure hunters, antique collectors and plain old deal-seekers who descended on a warehouse Saturday to buy a piece of Wisconsin history. State officials hung the “for sale” sign on three truckloads of stuff torn out of the state Capitol during restorations that wrapped up in 2003.
