Husband of Madison police officer charged with stalking

The husband of a Madison police officer has been charged with four felonies and one misdemeanor after prosecutors say he secretly put a global-positioning system tracker in his wife’s car and used her name and password to access the Police Department’s computer system.

Dustin M. Farberg, 34, who now lives at 2663 High Ridge Trail in Fitchburg, was charged Thursday in Dane County Circuit Court with two counts of stalking, one count of identity theft and one count of operating a vehicle without the owner’s consent. Police searched Farberg’s computer at his home and work computer at UW-Madison’s School of Public Health and Medicine, where he is a faculty recruiter.
