Eleven Republican lawmakers on Friday said UW- Madison can’t be trusted to investigate the circumstances surrounding Paul Barrows’ seven-month paid leave and formally asked Attorney General Peg Lautenschlager to tackle the case instead.
The legislators, including 10 Assembly members and one senator, said UW-Madison’s planned probe was inadequate because the chosen investigator, former Dane County judge and Madison lawyer Susan Steingass, is employed by the university as a clinical associate professor, which is a non- tenure track position on the academic staff.
