Reader views: Barrows crossed ethical line

Paul Barrows did nothing illegal having a consensual affair with a student, but his conduct was a violation of professional ethics. The issue that should concern the university community and state citizens is not his approved use of banked vacation time and sick leave during an extended leave of absence. Barrows’ misconduct occurred when he crossed the ethical line between a professional relationship and intimacy with a student, a line that the vast majority of administrators, professors and students at the university understand and respect.
