Several UW-Madison streets are also being torn up for the West Campus utility project, which is improving underground electrical infrastructure from the cogeneration power plant to the western part of campus including University Hospital.
Now that classes are over for the semester, construction is beginning on the “ring road” of Highland Avenue around the hospital complex, as well as on Observatory Drive, said Alan Fish, associate vice chancellor for facilities.
“We will always have two lanes of traffic open,” Fish said. “Traffic on Highland going from University Bay Drive to the new children’s hospital will not be affected.”
