Study says customer service even more important for today?s retailers

A UW researcher says retailers need to provide strong customer service more than ever, given the shaky economy and growing popularity of online shopping. With the holiday shopping season in full swing, retailers hope to end 2010 on a high note. Cynthia Jasper, a professor of consumer science at the UW-Madison, says to do this, they need to provide good customer service in their stores and online catalog. She says today?s shopper actually visits both in making a single purchase.
