UW-Madison’s teaching assistants say they aren’t planning another walkout like they did last spring to put pressure on the state for a new contract.
But that doesn’t mean the two sides are any closer to an agreement. Representatives of the state and the Teaching Assistants’ Association last week agreed that negotiations over wages and health benefits are stalled again, after one meeting that went nowhere earlier this month.
“Basically, the state hasn’t given us anything that we can consider,” said veteran teaching assistant Mike Quieto.
