Universities in state spend thousands a year lobbying D.C. for aid

The University of Wisconsin System has spent roughly $2.7 million over a decade on lobbying in Washington. Marquette University has spent $1.2 million. Both educational institutions racked up six-figure federal lobbying tabs last year alone, records analyzed by the nonpartisan Center for Responsive Politics show.
