Noted: Reflecting on her scientific career, Stubbe said that she was often one of the few women chemists in the lab, from her time as a graduate student at the University of California at Berkeley to being the first woman to earn tenure in biochemistry at the University of Wisconsin at Madison, before moving to MIT in 1987.
