UW cancer vaccine trial for dogs finds no breakthrough

UW-Madison researchers said the results of a new cancer vaccine trial for dogs so far aren’t the breakthrough they hoped for.

The Scout Out Canine Hemangiosarcoma trial tested whether adding a vaccine to chemotherapy could extend the lives of dogs with this form of cancer. Six months later, researchers found no difference in survival between dogs that got the vaccine and those that didn’t.
