In the wake of proposed tuition freeze, professor says theres no leadership crisis at UW-Madison

Students graduating this week from the University of Wisconsin-Madison might take a moment to appreciate how mightily their school has struggled to preserve adequate resources to maintain its tradition of excellence, Greg Downey, chairman of the UW School of Journalism and Mass Communication, says in a blog post Thursday, the day after Gov. Scott Walker announced that he wants to reduce the size of a funding increase for the UW System and also freeze tuition for its schools.

Final Faculty Senate meeting sparks multiple debates

The final Faculty Senate meeting of the academic year lasted over two hours Monday, resulting in discussions of the recent student sit-in in Chancellor David Ward?s office and increasing teaching assistant compensation, as well as extensive questioning of multiple annual committee reports, including transportation budgets and faculty compensation.

Faculty Senate votes down fossil fuel proposal

The University of Wisconsin?s Faculty Senate did not approve a resolution calling for faculty support on divestment in fossil fuel companies at their Monday?s meeting, voting to further study the issue before making a final decision.
